LA PEGATINA
In 2006 La Pegatina recorded their first album "Al Carrer!", on which participated Manu Chao, Gambeat and Che Sudaka. Auto-management was, and still is in a way, their philisophy. They divided the band into different branches giving each member different responsabilities. These first three members were about 20 years old then, playing guitar, cajon flamenco and vocals. They did an incredible job and gained in a short time lots of populairity; first in Catalunya and later in the rest of Spain.
Recording their second album in 2008 La Pegatina has developed into a band of seven members. On “Via Mandarina” guests like D’Callaos and El Puchero del Hortelano are featured. You can hear also a beautiful co-production with the Proyecto Meninos de Rua de Sao Paulo from Brasil, more specifically with Grupo Eureca de Percussao de Campinas. The earnings go to a fund to help the youngsters living in the streets of Sao Paulo. The result is the outstanding track “Minha Rua”. As guitar player and singer Rubén puts it: “Via Mandarina is full of exciting music that gives you the urge to go wild on the dance floor.”
A year after the release of “Via Mandarina” the popularity of the band reached a peak with a live performance produced by Gambeat (the bassist of Radio Bemba), 4500 sold albums, 180.000 downloads on internet and 250 concerts. They were finalist for the "Catalan album of the year 2007" and in 2008 went on tour around Switzerland, France and Italy.
Their new album 'Xapomelӧn’ was released on March 16th 2011 and had more then 15.000 downloads after one day.
On stage they always give 120 percent of themselves making sure that the public has just as much fun as they do. The musicians themselves like to refer to their music as urban rumba although others call it punk rock with a flamenco cajon and a Spanish guitar.
